
This summer, 25th-30th of August, the best flycasters in the world gathers in Karlshamn to compete in the World Championships in Flycasting.
Schedule, qualifications and finals
- Wednesday 26th – Spey events at Elleholm, qualifications and finals
- 27th-28th – Qualifications in the remaining 4 events are held in Näsviken, Karlshamn
- Saturday 29th – Finals in events from Thursday and Friday. Closing banquette for all who participated in the evening.

Facts about flycasting
In flycasting we compete in 6 different events using flyfishing gear. As in flyfishing the weight of the fly is negliable and instead it is the line that propels the cast.
Trout Distance
Gear – singlehand rod max 275,5 cm ( 9 ft), a specified floating class 5 line.
The goal is to throw as long as possible and landing the fly in a lane that is 10 meters wide.

Gear – singlehand rod max 275,5 cm ( 9 ft), a specified floating class 5 line.
Four 3-ringed targets are placed at random distances ranging from 8-15 meters. They are to be hit in sequence from left to right in four rounds, 16 casts in total. Maximum score is 80p.

Gear – singlehand rod max 306 cm (10 ft), floating shootinghead max 27g and 2mm thick.
The goal is to throw as long as possible and landing the fly in a lane that is 10 meters wide.

Salmon Distance
Gear – doublehand rod max 460 cm (15 ft), floating shootinghead max 55g and 3mm thick.
The goal is to throw as long as possible and landing the fly in a lane that is 10 meters wide.

Spey 15'1”
The caster stands in water, approximately 60 cm deep, using a doublehand rod (max 460cm) and a floating shootinghead. Best cast from each side is added up to get a total length.

Spey 16'/18'
The caster stands on a platform using a doublehand rod (max 489 cm for women / 550 cm for men) and a floating shootinghead. Best cast from either side gives the length.
